Analysis Tools

Analysis Tools consists of 5 modules, each designed to give the user fresh, new ideas based upon either situation analysis or the combination of Second Opinion with other types of analysis. Each module approaches the problem of investing/trading from a unique perspective.

Market Analysis is very simple -- Stocks with lots of activity in either price or volume are the best place to look for potential winners. This module focuses on things like stocks making new highs or lows, biggest gainers or losers, most actives, etc..

Stock Analysis shows the best selections from Second Opinion as well as the Upgrades and Downgrades from the previous night's analysis.

Special Situations is just what it says it is -- Stocks that have done something unusual the previous day. This module identifies situations like gaps, large one day volume increases, etc..

Money Runner's focus is specific stock recommendations. Starting with a list of stocks which have been upgraded (potential buys) or downgraded (potential shorts) by the major Wall Street firms, Money Runner then buys the stocks when Second Opinion upgrades it to a 'Long' or shorts the stock when Second Opinion downgrades it to a 'Avoid'. Money Runner includes a suggested Target as well as Sell Stop or Buy Stop. Stocks in Money Runner should only be bought or shorted on the day they appear in the Today's Buys list or the Today's Shorts list, respectively. Stocks listed in the Money Runner portfolio are not candidates.

The Trading Desk is specifically designed for traders who utilize short term trading strategies. On a daily basis, The Trading Desk scans our database for stocks that are approaching an area of recent resistance (BUYS) or recent support (SHORTS). These are not the longer term trend line support/resistance prices you will see in a Second Opinion. The entry price marks the appropriate breakout area. The "trade" should only be done if the stock breaks the entry price. When a stock breaks through an area of price resistance, the stock is in short supply (not enough sellers at this price). This should cause the stock to experience an upside move. When a stock breaks through an area of price support, the stock is in over supply (too many sellers at this price). This should cause the stock to experience a downside move.

"Front running" the entry price is not a good idea because the stock has failed to penetrate this support/resistance area. It probably will fail again. Wait for breakout !!

Stocks whose closing price is above (BUY)/below (SHORT) the entry price have already broken out. They may be used in one of two ways. If you have longer term money to invest, these stocks have a very high probability of going on to a LONG/AVOID recommendation. This is a good Early Entry point for a longer term position. The other way to use these stocks is to wait for the closing price to retreat to under (BUY)/over (SHORT) the Entry Price. They broke out once, they may do it again.

There are some general rules to follow in using Analysis Tools:

  1. When you review a list, look for stocks you know. It is always better to trade a stock with which you are familiar.
  2. If you choose a stock you don't know, check the news, check the chart, get comfortable with it.
  3. Whatever you use as an exit strategy for other trades of this type applies here.
  4. Use your head, this is not a 'BLACK BOX SOLUTION'. There is no substitute for your good judgement.
